I am pretty happy with everything, except my weight. I think going back on Herceptin and the steroids has made me gain weight, but my added cheating and eating ice cream doesn't help. I went to see Dr. Schuyler, my heart doctor and he was discussing my treatment with me while typing notes in a computer that's in the room. He is about 6'4" and bald, and young. Anyway, he was telling me that I had to tell him if I felt dizzy cause they are trying to regulate a new dosage of medicine. He is trying to keep my blood pressure around 100 over 66 or thereabouts. I told him I thought that was low and he told me it was perfect, right where he wanted it. Then he asked me how much I weigh, he wanted to see if I was retaining liquid. Well, my weight is the highest it has ever been in my life. I told him that when I feel sorry for myself I grab a handful of m&ms, when I worry about things I grab a dish of ice cream. All the time I'm telling him this, he is typing. Then he says, " How do you spell noncompliance to doctor's orders?" Ha, I said to him, "why don't you just put slothfulness". So, we are now buddies and he gets me and I get him. I have been so lucky with doctors, I am truly blessed. I also had my herceptin treatment and saw Joanie and Hershel Conners, he has cancer that has spread to his liver. They are leaving for Mayo clinic to see what they can do. They have already gone there once before. He has had a very miraculous time with it, where the cancer has been in remission, but all of a sudden it is back and it is spreading.
I talked to Martie, 2nd grade teacher, and she is doing well. She is at her parents trailer home and they are taking care of her. They just found out her father's cancer has spread to the liver. So she and her dad are going to receive chemo together. Since this is her first time, they are taking pictures and everything. Her mother has heart problems and is trying to do all of this. Martie says she is up and around, so she helps also. She has had visitors (her classroom parents), they help and bring her meals. Martie isn't eating much. She has lost over 100 pounds. She had been on a diet, which is why none of us knew anything was wrong. You get more warning from a cold that you are sick, then cancer. She lives way up in Largo. So I will have to go see her next week.
I will see Dorothy one day when Mary goes to see her. She is the parish manager. She is in her 40's, Martie is 50, Coach was 58, John was 58, Kathy was 58, I am 58. Cancer doesn't discriminate with age. Dorothy is in a lot of pain as the cancer has spread to her bones.
I did have fun yesterday going to a plant sale that Kip's sister held. She does the plants for the Saturday morning marked downtown. She had so many gorgeous plants...all ornamentals. I told Mary I would help her do her lawn. She like the way ours turned out, so Tom and I are going to work on it, while she is at work. Tom can do the heavy lifting. We went to Home Goods and bought decorative pots and such. So we will fill them today. I bought a gorgeous container, the kind that has pockets going out from it in various locations. I think it is called a strawberry pot. I plan on putting herbs in each bowl and a tomato pot coming out the top. So, if the rain stops, I will work on those things. Yes, we are finally getting some relief.
John and I have been enjoying doing the house. He painted the new door going into the garage and that turned out well. Then our doorbell stopped working, so he worked on replacing that. He had me listen to the ring and it is the same one my grandfather had on his door. When I was a little kid, I always liked that doorbell. I thought it was a rich persons door bell. I didn't know you can get about any doorbell you want. John moved the station to right outside our bedroom doors. We are getting so deaf, now we will hear the ring and not miss it.
Whew, this is a long one. Sorry. Have a good week at work. I will write in a few days.Love me.
