was had by all in Sebring this weekend....lovely, lovely, old historic hotel with very uncomfortable (for me anyway) beds as they too are old, lol. My back was giving me fits all weekend, more so than usual so it was a good thing Kelly was there to give massages. I had two 20-minute ones and enjoyed both immensely.
This picture was taken by Dawn as hers came out better than mine...
It was a very busy weekend at the Kenilworth as about 50 of us were there and then they had a big group of guys there on a golf weekend and a wedding reception on Saturday night! Some of the men were so curious when they saw our cropping room, they had to come in and look and see what we were doing!
They were very nice and we all had some good laughs with them. One of the girls went and played poker with them Sat. night and won $80.00!!! Too funny. I have to say I much rather stay in our air conditioned room than be on the golf course this weekend as it was hot though we had a really nice breeze on the porch. The porch is a gathering place for the smokers and various others (like me) who want to solve the world's problems! We had a good time rocking and talking. (Dawn's pic again)
We were stuffed with good food all weekend of course, due to Linda and Mel's cooking.
Saturday afternoon we had taco salads which were a huge hit...
We went out to breakfast at the Greek restaurant next door, both days, for breakfast and I loved my greek omellette. Barb had a gyro one morning and said it was delish!
We shared a room again and got lucky as we were on the first floor so going back and forth to the crop room was easy. Barb (from Ft. Myers) had a very special treat on her pillow the first night which I'll have to let her tell you about, lol.
The hotel itself is just full of memorabilia...here's some photos..
lobby where we watched Irene do all her damage to the east coast while we enjoyed sunny, breezy weather.
This was the hall down to the rooms on the first floor. I took a lot of pictures on my cell phone which I put up on facebook all weekend too.
Sometimes you have to be creative...I forgot my table lamp so I used the one from the room! It worked great for the table and looked cute, lol...
I made this album from a kit (paisley and polka dots) and as soon as I finished it, one of the girls bought it from me!
It did turn out real cute.
So as you can see, we all had a blast, especially the swim crew from Saturday night, lol! You can't tell from this pic but there were several of them enjoying the night air..their faces are hidden to protect the innocent, lol...
Teresa drove this weekend too which was great for me. It's only about 2 hours away, the same as to Ft. Myers but you drive on a pretty long, boring country road to get there as it's in the middle of the state.
Now I'm home again and getting into cruise mode as I leave Saturday! I have done nothing to get ready but have the whole week to do it. I'm looking forward to sailing on the Oasis on Saturday!
Hope you fared well through Irene. It looks like NC and Vermont got it the worse, especially Vermont. Who would have thought that that state would get hit so hard??
We've had a totally rainy day here today, thunderstorms on and off all day so I haven't accomplished much but then again, who cares- I'm retired!!
