This is my girlfriends from when I taught in middle school at BP. Everyone is retired now!! Except for the girl at the end of the table, my former student, who is with her mom next to her. The man is a former student of Nora's, the woman on the end right side, who now works for American Airlines and was in town. We all met at Chattaway's again, a wonderful place on the southside that has been there since my parents were first married and lived by it! We were celebrating the first day of school for the students and not having to be there, lol!! We had a fun time catching up with each other and everyone's travels this past year. Fun time with great people!
Thank goodness, tropical storm/hurricane Irene, is veering off into the Atlantic away from Florida. We were afraid she'd mess up our weekend plans!! This weekend is the famous Hilltop Fried Green Tomato Crop that takes place at the old hotel down in Sebring which we all love. Teresa and I will take off late morning on Friday and head on over. My roomie is Barb from Ft. Myers again which is always fun. Barb won't get there until about 7pm though as she is working book rush this week. We love that hotel and love seeing everyone and I always get a lot of cropping done too.
Then a week from Saturday I take off for Ft. Lauderdale to sail away on Royal Carribbean's Oasis ship!
I'll be gone for 7 days down in the Carribbean again but to some new places like Labadee, Haiti and Falmouth, Jamaica.
I have never cruised at this time of year before but the girls I'm going with, go at this time every year and said they only got rerouted one time due to a storm. I have insurance so if something came up and it was canceled, I'd still get my money back. I LOVE cruising, love it! So really looking forward to a nice, long week on this gorgeous newer ship that I've heard so much about!
Thank goodness, my cleaning wonderful lady, Jane, will be staying here with the "kids" again for me.
I need to get busy and do laundry today so I should stop rattling on and on. What did you think of that earthquake yesterday? That was totally out of the blue and facebook was streaming with everyone's posting about what happened where they lived.
If you have an extra prayer or two, please send them Barb and John's way. They found out yesterday that their oncologist which they both really like, is closing his office! They now have to go to a different Dr. and John is only half way through his chemo/radiation treatments so it's really upsetting for him. The Dr. is young too with young children but I guess insurance and the current medical crisis has done him in and he and his wife decided to close down. Pretty sad, isn't it? So anyway, they could use some positive vibes sent their way please. They are also suppose to leave next Friday to fly to SC for their niece's wedding too and now John needs to have a new cat scan as his markers are off so that's more reason for them to be upset. I love both of them and hate to see this happening to them. Really good people. Love them.
Okay, outta here....have a good Wednesday!
